Medieval museum (Medeltidsmuseet) attracts not only by its exposition but primary by its location. Being in the very heart of Old City gives you an opportunity to enjoy wonderful views from the Helgeandsholmen Island in any direction.

The main “treasures” of the museum are the 14th-century cemetery wall, erected in the 1530s during the reign of Gustav Vasa, a ship of 16th century raised from the bottom, as well as the remains of a secret corridor leading to the Royal Palace under the strait. All collection was found in 1978-80, when large archaeological excavations took place here because of the reconstruction of the Riksdag building (Swedish Parliament). The findings discovered during the work are represented in one of the most interesting museums in the country now. To find it turn your steps under the Norrbro Bridge between the Royal Palace and the Opera Building. Organized tours for groups up to 30 persons start with SEK 1,500

Free admission.
