🌋 All you need to know about Villarrica Volcano Tours

Prior to your ascent, meet with our local partner for an equipment check-up and a detailed briefing on the hike, ideally scheduled the day before. On the following day, embark on a 30-minute drive from Pucon’s center to the base of Villarrica Volcano. Initiate your climb to the summit of this iconic Chilean active volcano, beginning with a traditional hike from 1,200 meters above sea level. Acclimatize gradually as you approach the summit glacier, where our expert guides will introduce the use of crampons and ice axes.

After a five to six-hour climb, reach the impressive summit at 2,847 meters. Marvel at the crater’s geological formation, observing fumaroles and possibly glimpsing lava. Enjoy a panoramic view of surrounding volcanoes, lagoons, and forests for approximately half an hour. Descend in half the time it took to ascend, combining walking and controlled snow sliding.

Throughout the hike, engage in conversations about the native peoples of the Andes, their connection to the mountains, and topics in volcanology. Once back at the base, your vehicle, arranged by Travel Inti, will be ready to transport you to our departure office in Pucon.
