About Camping Alicanto
In Mapudungun, Alicanto means “to always be dry in the sun.” It is a mythical creature embodied in a marine waterfowl. The myth tells of this bird laying two solid metal eggs: one of silver and the other of gold. Mapuche people believe that by following the “Alicanto,” one can discover gold mines. To hunt it, one must do so while it is asleep because, in the presence of strangers, it emits an incandescent light that will blind anyone daring to capture it.
Camping Alicanto is the ideal place to enjoy with family. Nestled in the midst of nature and surrounded by mountain ranges, many of which have volcanic origins, they have remained in the deepest slumber.
